February 2013 Photo Blog

A sweet picture of Kenia & Christian, two of the youth.

The Vega Family is building a new house on their property and I try to come over and help out whenever I can. It is incredible how fast Gato is building this almost entirely by himself!

My best friend, Rosita. I have more fun with this girl than anyone else!

Loving my Nicaragua life, walking back from visiting the new houses. (Photo thanks to Brandon Cobb)

Leading staff worship with Brandon. (Photo thanks to Timothy Rivers)

One of the things the Vega family likes to do while this construction is going on is laying out all the bricks, putting a tarp over it all, and sleeping on it at night. Rosita and I tried to do it but didn’t make it the whole night…it wasn’t even slightly comfortable but we did have a hilarious time.

The result of a mud fight with Gato and Rosita. This was my FOURTH shower of that day. I normally take 2-3 showers a day, just to try and rinse all the sweat off and freshen up.

With two of my favorite girls, Rosita and Junieth in their school uniforms. (Photo thanks to Lisa Smith)

Planned Friday night game night for the first time! Jose helped out so much, he did most of the work! And even after all the games we planned, the youth still wanted to just play “Steal the bacon”.

At this time of the year, the people at Ingenio are burning the sugar cane fields (it’s part of the processing). It’s something to see, for sure, especially since we live so close. This however, was an accident, and the fire was super close. Made for an interesting view anyway!

In Leon for our days off, and they finally finished re-doing the central park! It is beautiful and open, but a lot less crowded without all the vendors.

My new favorite thing to do, help out with the preschool sunday school class. Rosita who teaches it has been letting me take over more and more things each week so I can start to share teaching responsibilities. (Photo thanks to Lisa Smith)

English class in Candelaria. I promise they actually like me and we have a good time! They really love English, seriously!

Our beautiful new kitchen, thanks to Finish the Wall. This is the window where they’ll be selling stuff from the restaurant and bakery.

Family dinner night with my beautiful Lisa Smith. All of us went out but Lisa and I looked good, so we needed a picture 🙂

A sweet, precious note and drawing that Juanita made for me in the last page of my journal. Lisa is their mama, but they call me their “second mama”. I love it. I can’t actually express in words how much I love it.

AND this photo blog would not be complete without how I started February. By running into a tree and cutting my eyelid open and scratching up my face. I looked gooooood, let me tell you.

Thank you for your continued support of the journey God’s put me on! If you would like to see pictures, feel free to add me on FaceBook. They upload faster on there. If you feel led to make a donation, there are a few ways you can go about that:
